Interior design, for me, has never ended at the drawing set. It extends into the quieter layers of daily life — the objects we reach for instinctively, the surfaces that age alongside us, the small gestures that make a space feel grounded rather than styled.

For many years, I have sourced objects from various places globally — including online marketplaces such as Etsy — for our interior projects. Not as decorative accents, but as considered elements with character, restraint, and a sense of human scale. Platforms like Etsy have allowed us to connect with craftsmen and makers we would not otherwise encounter, bringing pieces into our projects.

The decision to step onto Etsy myself grew naturally from this experience. The Loren Ng Designs collection was conceived not as a separate venture, but as a continuation of our studio practice — a way to translate spatial thinking into objects that could exist beyond a single project, while still holding the same intent and clarity that guide our interiors.

Translating Spatial Thinking Into Objects

Designing homes involves layers of complexity — site constraints, client needs, technical coordination. While that complexity is deeply rewarding, working with objects allows design thinking to be distilled into its most essential form.

Each piece in our Etsy collection begins with the same questions we ask when planning a home:

How is this used?

Where does it naturally belong?

What role does it play within a space?

Rather than replicating elements from past projects, the objects are designed as independent forms — quiet, adaptable, and proportionally considered. Working at this scale brings design closer to the body: to touch, movement, and habit. It is a more immediate way of practising design, yet one that still relies on discipline, clarity, and restraint.

Objects That Anchor A Home

In a well-composed interior, objects are not incidental. They help organise space, introduce moments of pause, and soften transitions between zones. Within the Loren Ng Designs Etsy collection, this intent is expressed through a small, refined selection of pieces that function as spatial anchors:

Each object is designed to support spatial clarity rather than dominate it — allowing rooms to feel intentional, calm, and quietly complete.

Craft, Material, And Care

While the objects are handcrafted, they are never casual. Each piece is developed and produced with the support of a dedicated and experienced Loren Ng Designs team, ensuring consistency, structural integrity, and quality across the collection.

Materials are selected for how they respond to light, touch, and time. Finishes remain intentionally restrained, allowing the objects to integrate seamlessly into different homes and design languages. This emphasis on quiet precision reflects our studio approach: design that is confident without excess, refined without ornament.

Designed For Everyday Use

Unlike bespoke interiors, these pieces are released without knowing exactly where they will land. That openness is intentional. Each object is designed to adapt — to sit alongside different materials, within varied light conditions, and across diverse spatial contexts.

Rather than prescribing how a home should look, the pieces allow room for interpretation. Over time, they become part of daily routines — shaped by use rather than styling. This is where design becomes meaningful: when objects settle into place naturally and begin to support the rhythms of everyday life.

A Quiet Continuation Of Practice

The Etsy collection is not a departure from our studio work, but a quieter extension of it. It allows us to practise design at a more intimate scale — one that values proportion, material honesty, and restraint, without the complexity of a full renovation.

Design does not live solely in plans or finished photographs. It exists in the objects we return to repeatedly — the ones that hold space steadily over time. This collection carries that belief forward, offering a way to experience our design philosophy beyond the boundaries of a single project.
